Part-Time Lecturer Pool - City & Regional Planning (AY 26/27)
About The Position
Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term. Applicants must be available on very short notice. This position is for part-time lecturer assignments in City and Regional Planning at Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo, for the Fall and/or Spring semesters of the 2026-27 academic year. Assignments may cover a wide range of planning-related topics including environmental impact analysis, urban design, graphics, land use, infrastructure planning, public policy, demographics, housing, planning theory, geographic information systems, computer applications, and studio practice. The assignment of selected applicants will depend on departmental needs and budgetary considerations.
Requirements
- Advanced degree with an earned degree (minimum of Bachelor's degree) in City and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture or a degree that fulfills a special department need.
- In the absence of an advanced degree, appropriate professional experience in the previous 5 years is required for appointment.
- Must be available on very short notice.
- Must comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment (mandated reporter).

Responsibilities
- Teach courses in City and Regional Planning, potentially including environmental impact analysis, environmental planning, environmental policy, urban design, graphics, visual communications, land use, infrastructure planning, planning for multiple publics, public policy, demographics, housing, planning theory, geographic information systems, computer applications, introduction to urban planning, project planning studio, community plan studio practice, and other specialties related to plan-making.
- Be available on very short notice for temporary appointments.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.

- Classification salary ranges for respective ranks (Lecturer A, B, C, D) are provided as of July 2024.
