About The Position

The Department of Computer Science at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for the Bachelor of Computer Information Systems Chula Vista program to teach CIS 341: Computer Systems Analysis and Design. This 16-week course will be taught in-person, from 8/31-12/12/26, schedule TBD. The course covers the systems development life cycle, compares traditional methods of systems development to newer, emerging methods, process and data models for an information system, user interface for an information system, feasibility study and cost benefit analysis. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree
  • Experience teaching, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Information Systems using a variety of technologies and tools
  • Communication and Presentation Skills
  • Course Design capabilities
  • Continuous Learning and Adaptability

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science Degree, or related field or equivalent and/or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience teaching or mentoring students/employees in topics related to tools and technologies used in Computer Information Systems
  • Experience teaching, either as a course instructor or teaching assistant, especially in topics related to Computer Information Systems
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence
  • Commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service

Responsibilities

  • Teach CIS 341: Computer Systems Analysis and Design
  • Design a well-structured syllabus
  • Select appropriate course materials and/or adapt existing course materials for current course section
  • Stay updated with the latest techniques and developments in Computer Information Systems
