About The Position
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Boise State University is seeking a full-time Lecturer to join their teaching faculty. This role will primarily focus on teaching freshman and sophomore level courses, with potential to teach upper-division courses based on expertise. Responsibilities include teaching general chemistry and other discipline-specific courses as needed. The position involves teaching four courses per semester, contributing to high-quality undergraduate education through engaging, evidence-based teaching practices such as active learning, modern instrumentation, and technology-enhanced instruction. The department supports professional development to enhance teaching effectiveness and the student experience. Summer teaching opportunities may be available for additional compensation.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field.
- If the graduate degree is in an education-related field, a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry is also required.

- Experience developing and teaching online chemistry courses

Responsibilities
- Contribute to the department’s teaching mission with primary teaching responsibilities in freshman and sophomore courses.
- Potentially teach upper-division courses within their area of disciplinary expertise.
- Teach general chemistry and discipline-specific courses that align with departmental needs and the candidate’s background.
- Teach four courses per semester.
- Utilize innovative, evidence-based teaching practices that promote student learning and success, such as active learning strategies, modern laboratory instrumentation, and technology-enhanced instruction.
- Participate in initiatives that strengthen teaching effectiveness and enhance the student experience.
