About The Position

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Boise State University is seeking a full-time Lecturer to teach freshman and sophomore chemistry courses, with potential for upper-division courses based on expertise. The role involves teaching four courses per semester and contributing to the department's commitment to high-quality, engaging undergraduate education through innovative, evidence-based teaching practices. This includes active learning, use of modern laboratory instrumentation, and technology-enhanced instruction. Summer teaching opportunities may be available.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field.
• If the graduate degree is in an education-related field, a bachelor’s degree in chemistry or biochemistry is also required.

• Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemistry education, science education, or a closely related field.
• Experience teaching general chemistry.
• Experience developing and teaching online chemistry courses.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the department’s teaching mission with primary teaching responsibilities in freshman and sophomore courses.
• Teach upper-division courses within their area of disciplinary expertise, if applicable.
• Teach general chemistry and potentially discipline-specific courses aligned with departmental needs and candidate's background.
• Teach four courses per semester.
• Utilize innovative, evidence-based teaching practices that promote student learning and success.
• Incorporate active learning strategies, use of modern laboratory instrumentation, and technology-enhanced instruction.
• Participate in professional development and initiatives that strengthen teaching effectiveness and enhance the student experience.
• Potentially teach summer courses for additional compensation.
