About The Position

University of Hawai‘i, Kapi‘olani Community College, Business, Legal and Technology Education Program is seeking applications for the Law-Paralegal/Legal Secretary lecturer position. This is a lecturer pool position for Fall 2026/Spring 2027, subject to funding and staffing requirements.

Requirements

  • Law degree and experience working with or as a paralegal and member in good standing of the Hawaii State Bar
  • Bachelor’s degree in paralegal and 3 years of related work experience
  • Any Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of related work experience, and recognized post baccalaureate paralegal certificate
  • Any Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at the community college level
  • Demonstrated ability to work with community college students
  • Work experience related to course to be taught
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively
  • Familiarity with competency- and outcomes-based instruction
  • Experience in integrating writing, technology, and thinking skills into teaching

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the assigned subject area
  • Prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress
  • Assess student learning in terms of student and program learning outcomes
  • Submit self-assessment reports based on student and peer evaluations
  • Work under the general supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area
  • Maintain one office hour per week for each course taught
  • Classes may be offered online, daytime, evenings and/or weekends
