About The Position

This is a part-time temporary position for a Lecturer in Business, covering General Business, Finance, Management, and Marketing. The role involves teaching assigned courses, maintaining office hours, preparing course materials, and working under the supervision of a discipline coordinator. Instructional assignments may include distance education. The position is non-tenure track and pending availability of funds and staffing requirements. Evening, weekend, distance education, television, and/or off-campus classes may be assigned. This is an in-person position and not a remote role.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in General Business, Finance, Management, or Marketing, OR Master’s in Business Administration, OR Bachelor’s Degree in General Business, Finance, Management, or Marketing AND three (3) years related work experience.
  • All minimum qualifications must be from an accredited institution and met by the effective date of appointment.
  • Due to the rural location of this position, if qualified applicants are not available, those not meeting the minimum qualifications may be considered on an exception basis.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of students' classroom learning activities.
  • The ability to apply knowledge of Native Hawaiian culture to effectively collaborate with multicultural groups and individuals from diverse academic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Native Hawaiian language, history, politics, culture, practices, and contemporary issues.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the discipline for which one is qualified.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Prepare course syllabi, grading, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under the supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  • May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  • Other duties as assigned.
