About The Position

Faculty members at Texas A&M University–Kingsville teach undergraduate courses across multiple sections and formats, maintaining high standards of instructional quality. This Lecturer in Biology position supports the department’s undergraduate teaching mission through instruction, student mentoring, advising, and service activities. The position may also assist with curriculum support and other academic initiatives aligned with the university mission.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field from an accredited university.
  • At least 18 graduate semester hours in biological sciences.
  • Evidence of effective teaching or strong potential for teaching.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for teaching and instructing individuals and groups.
  • Ability to use instructional technologies and learning management systems.
  • Ability to move instructional materials with or without assistance.
  • Ability to speak and actively engage in classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Ability to work in standard classroom, laboratory, and office environments.
  • This position is security sensitive.
  • This position will require export-control authorization prior to starting employment.
  • This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TAMU policies, regulations, rules and procedures.
  • All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and University safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses such as General Biology I and II lecture and labs, introductory biology for majors and non-majors, and related courses as assigned.
  • Deliver instruction in on campus and online formats when needed.
  • Maintain high standards of teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Develop syllabi, assignments, laboratories, and assessments aligned with departmental expectations.
  • Support student success through mentoring and academic advising.
  • Participate in departmental and university service activities, meetings, assessment, recruitment, and related initiatives.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
