The Electromechanical Technician I will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot basic program issues, and assist with program modifications on computer-controlled systems with frequent guidance. In this role, you will use maintenance and reliability practices to ensure all assets are maintained in good condition while continuing to ensure equipment lifespan.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work for Cargill in Canada
  • A minimum of 18 years of age
  • Ability to perform physical tasks that may include bending, lifting up to 50lb, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and being able to access sometimes restricted areas.
  • Ability to work in varied conditions, both indoors and outdoors, including heat, cold, dust, and noise, with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Basic software knowledge
  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and different shifts.
  • Possess basic knowledge of industrial safety.
  • Autonomous with the ability to work effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the maintenance reliability process (predictive and preventive maintenance) and predictive technologies
  • Have a DEP in electromechanics or industrial mechanics
  • A minimum of 2 years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in instrumentation
  • Certification as a Class 4 Stationary Equipment Mechanic (MMF Class 4)
  • Knowledge of the industrial environment and operation of a feed mill (an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Modify programming as needed according to general guidelines.
  • Participate in the design and installation of new or upgraded equipment and machinery.
  • Complete troubleshooting of mechanical-electrical failures and machine automation.
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to improve plant asset reliability while troubleshooting machinery failures as needed.
  • Perform periodic inspection and maintenance of processing equipment, storage systems, plant utilities, and other mechanical and electrical systems under direct supervision.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and reactive industrial electrical work throughout the facility while using standard maintenance tools such as power tools, precision maintenance tools, and preventive maintenance technology tools.
  • Install and test low and high voltage (600V) systems and assist others in other maintenance activities.
  • Follow direct schematics, blueprints, operating manuals, and instructions.
  • Document completed work and conditions found using maintenance computer software.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as needed.
