The Leave Specialist will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiring specialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. This role serves as the main point of contact for all leave-related inquiries between employees, managers, department administrators, and/or third-party administrators. The specialist will communicate with employees regarding requests for leave and/or modified work schedules, ensuring they are aware of their responsibilities and required documentation. The position involves handling the FMLA leave administration process from start to finish, including eligibility determination, medical certification, and accounting for intermittent leave. It also includes managing the Worker’s Compensation administration process, maintaining communication with employees on leave, advising on the interaction of leave laws with other benefits, and overseeing the return-to-work process for various types of leave. Additionally, the role facilitates other leave requests such as ADA and USERRA accommodations, donated leave requests, and verifies accurate timecard submissions for employees on extended leave. The Leave Specialist is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records, answering payroll and benefits-related questions, and providing training to department payroll administrators.
