About The Position

The Facility Shop Manager oversees and manages the service operations and personnel for the assigned fleet of the location.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in dealer service or fleet maintenance operations within the heavy equipment industry

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Fleet Director
  • Act as primary interface to customers with daily updates and/or facilitate breakdowns
  • Communicate performance expectations and company initiatives on a regular basis to employees
  • Manage and diffuse customer complaints by developing, implementing and communicating plan of action to correct issues.
  • Prepare Billback Estimates with photos and approval documentation.
  • Provide oversight and direction of inventory management and vendor relations
  • Perform daily lot checks to ensure they are rental ready
  • Direct the daily operation of the in-fleet, maintenance, damage, condition and de-fleet functions for your shop
  • Manage technicians as well as develop
  • Select, coach, lead, train and supervise vehicle technicians while assisting with the purchase of parts, materials and equipment
  • Assign and schedule work duties to auto service staff according to individual skill level
  • Ensuring high teammate retention

  • Manage P&L performance, productivity, financial and asset controls in regards on maintenance expenses.
  • Ensure timely completion of recalls, preventative maintenance and quality of vehicle repairs
  • Assign work and provides supervision to foreman’s and/or technicians.
  • Ensure all related repair orders are completed and processed in accordance with established guidelines
  • Approve all maintenance expenditures and submit invoices for approval/payment
  • Select, manage and inspect outside vendor work to established service levels and quality standards
  • Ensure proper use of purchase orders, receipt of services and payment of invoices
  • Maintain up-to-date files on vendor insurance policies
  • Minimize vehicle downtime and units out of service
  • Ensure warranty submissions meet or exceed business plan and all required documentation is submitted as per OEM Guidelines
  • Hire, train, engage, energize, set up for success, coach and recognize team members to enable a high-performing culture
  • Guide the resolution of employee relations issues and commonly faced problems to build and maintain professional relationships with subordinates
