About The Position

This full-time position requires bilingual skills and reports to the Community Manager. The Leasing Professional is responsible for showing and leasing apartments to prospective residents. This role involves communicating with prospective and current residents, developing and maintaining resident relations, learning professional sales techniques, and completing lease agreements. The position also includes inspecting model apartments, compiling listings of available units, assisting with advertisements, and contacting credit bureaus and previous landlords for prospective resident information. The Leasing Professional may also substitute for the Assistant Manager and must adhere to all fair housing laws. Additional duties include attending staff, management, and department meetings, updating work order agendas weekly, and engaging in continuous training and development.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to generate reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Bilingual is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Shows and leases apartments to prospective residents.
  • Communicates with prospective residents requiring information and current residents with complaints or problems.
  • Develops and maintains resident relations through courtesy, promptness of maintenance calls, completion of newsletters, and knowledge of community policies.
  • Learns to develop professional sales techniques.
  • Accompanies prospects to model apartments and discusses size and layout of rooms, available facilities, location of shopping centers, services available, and terms of lease.
  • Makes follow-up calls to prospective residents who did not fill out an application.
  • Completes lease form or agreement and collects rental deposit.
  • Inspects condition of model daily and arranges for necessary maintenance.
  • Compiles and updates listings of available rental units.
  • Assists with the composition of newspaper advertisements.
  • Contacts credit bureau, previous landlord, and employment history of prospective residents.
  • Substitutes for Assistant Manager when absent.
  • Adheres to all fair housing laws.
  • Attends regular staff meetings.
  • Attends weekly management meetings.
  • Attends weekly department meetings.
  • Updates work order agendas weekly.
  • Continuously grows and improves through training and development.
  • Completes and submits weekly activity report, weekly traffic and leasing report, weekly off-site marketing report in a timely and accurately.
  • Operates basic office equipment such as copier, fax, computer, typewriter, calculator and telephone.
