About The Position

This position involves showing and leasing apartments to prospective residents. The role requires strong communication and sales skills, as well as the ability to maintain positive resident relations. The Leasing Professional will handle inquiries, complaints, and problems from both prospective and current residents. They will also be responsible for managing lease agreements, collecting deposits, and ensuring the model apartments are well-maintained. Additionally, the role involves assisting with marketing efforts, screening potential residents, and potentially substituting for the Assistant Manager. Adherence to fair housing laws is mandatory. Requirements

  • Ability to generate reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to complete and submit weekly activity report, weekly traffic and leasing report, weekly off-site marketing report in a timely and accurately.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment such as copier, fax, computer, typewriter, calculator and telephone.
  • Regularly required to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms and to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
  • Six months to one year related experience and/or training.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Shows and leases apartments to prospective residents.
  • Communicates with prospective residents requiring information and current residents with complaints or problems.
  • Develops and maintains resident relations through courtesy, prompt maintenance, community newsletters, and knowledge of policies.
  • Develops professional sales techniques.
  • Accompanies prospects to model apartments, discussing features and lease terms.
  • Makes follow-up calls to prospective residents.
  • Completes lease forms and collects rental deposits.
  • Inspects model apartments daily and arranges for necessary maintenance.
  • Compiles and updates listings of available rental units.
  • Assists with the composition of newspaper advertisements.
  • Contacts credit bureaus, previous landlords, and employment history of prospective residents.
  • Substitutes for Assistant Manager when absent.
  • Adheres to all fair housing laws.
  • Attends regular staff meetings, weekly management meetings, and weekly department meetings.
  • Updates work order agendas weekly.
  • Continuously grows and improves through training and development.
