About The Position

At the Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA), we work closely with local governments and other community partners throughout Clark County to address issues of affordable housing and homelessness and help families break the cycle of poverty. We provide affordable housing and housing assistance to low-income residents in Clark County. Your skills and experience will support our mission as you: Greet visitors independently and courteously respond to inquiries, assess needs, and either provide information or direct to the appropriate staff member. Scan and index documents as directed, photocopy materials as needed, provide requested forms to visitors, provide forms left by staff for clients and documents needing signatures, and notarize documents as needed. Provide information and applications related to low-cost housing and assist applicants with filling out forms, looking up information, accessing online applications, accessing the Applicant Portal, and other related duties. Answer telephone calls for the agency on a multi-line system by directing calls, taking messages, and making appropriate referrals. Processes incoming and outgoing mail and faxes each day by sorting and directing them to the appropriate staff. Receives completed applications, fees, keys, and rent payments per established protocol. Runs background checks and income verifications on new applicants and assists with issuance and tracking of parking and pet permits, garden space assignments, and lockouts. Create, mail, and process continued interest letters for waitlists managed by the property and follow up with applicants. Assists with scheduling intake and recertification appointments with the Property Manager and/or Property Assistant. Draft and distribute a variety of correspondence, including flyers, upcoming events and meetings, lease renewal letters, and notices to tenants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, plus some higher-level education or vocational training specializing in office skills required.
  • At least 1 year of directly related experience or equivalent required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills are required to maintain a welcoming and efficient atmosphere at the front desk.
  • Demonstrated computer skills necessary to effectively complete duties.
