SUMMARY The Driver, Lease – I will transport raw materials supporting production of windows and doors and finished goods for consolidation or customers. A Class A CDL will be required for all transport. Driving schedules will include day and night driving, and drivers will need to be flexible to meet required delivery of raw material and finished good schedules. These are full-time positions and paid per hour. (Starting pay: $28) Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deliver Pella products via tandem tractor/trailer as scheduled by Corporate Logistics Load Planning Department. Pick up and deliver items from vendors on an as-needed/scheduled basis, while ensuring on-time delivery Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure equipment is in compliance with DOT regulations. Maintain a neat and clean appearance at all times. Must consistently demonstrate professionalism and respect in all interactions with customers, colleagues, and the public. Attend all required safety and performance meetings. Driver must abide by all DOT regulations and will be accountable for all CSA incidents. Operate a Class A commercial vehicle safely and efficiently over long distances. Follow all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations. Maintain accurate and up-to-date logbooks using ELDs (Electronic Logging Devices). Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit. Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential delays. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Valid Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) Minimum of 1 year of OTR driving experience preferred. Clean driving record with no major violations. Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug test. Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations and compliance. Willingness to be on the road for extended periods (varies by route and company policy). Have no more than three (3) recorded moving violations within a three-year period as a driver of commercial or private vehicle. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid Class A CDL drivers license. Knowledge and/or experience of driving in large metropolitan areas preferred. Must have safe driving record. Must be familiar with all DOT regulations. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to document details and convey correspondence. Ability to interpret and understand shipment paperwork for both inbound and outbound freight. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures to correctly complete logbook requirements and understand monthly performance reports for the equipment and driver. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variability in standardized situations. Ability to read a map and take direction. COMPUTER SKILLS Basic computer skills preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have only one valid CDL license. Must have current Medical Examiner’s Certificate. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a driver encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the driver will be exposed to outside weather conditions. Noise levels in the work environment are usually moderate. The driver is confined to the cab of a truck for extended periods of time during the day or night.
