About The Position

Lethbridge School Division is seeking a dedicated and collaborative professional educator to join the team as a Learning Support Teacher within Parker’s Place. Parker's Place is a specialized division program supporting students in grades 1–5 with complex learner profiles including cognitive, physical, sensory, and augmentative/alternative communication support needs. The successful candidate fosters supportive and inclusive learning environments where every learner is viewed as capable and successful. They value relationship-building and collaboration with students, families, staff, and community partners to support student learning and well-being. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, and a strong team player.

Requirements

  • Possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Sound understanding of teaching context and contributing variables.
  • Deep understanding of subject disciplines taught and pedagogical approaches based on best practice.
  • Understanding of planning, assessment and instructional practices.
  • Understanding of classroom management strategies that contribute to a positive learning environment.
  • Ability to use technology in meaningful ways for teaching and learning.
  • Qualities of a reflective practitioner who engages in professional learning aligned with the TQS.
  • Commitment to the school community with respect to professional relationships.
  • Belief in collaborative practice and teamwork.
  • Active contribution to school and student activity, and overall ability to develop effective relationships within the school and community.
  • Strong understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy instruction.
  • Knowledge of language development, including AAC strategies and systems.
  • An understanding of strategies to support self-regulation and social skill development.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build strong relationships with families.
  • Knowledge of inclusive practices, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience supporting students with complex learning and medical support needs.
  • Previous teaching experience.
