About The Position

Marymount School seeks a learning specialist for a leave replacement from August 27 to November 19, 2026. Our learning specialist works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, support personnel and families to provide strategic learning support to students in Grades 2 & 3. Using recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations, the learning specialist provides individualized support to students, recommends interventions to classroom teachers, and coordinates with outside support services. At Marymount, all teachers strive to balance high expectations with deep support, fostering both academic excellence and student growth. Beyond the classroom, teachers at Marymount contribute to the broader life of the school by moderating at least one student club or activity. Other responsibilities include attendance at faculty meetings, student supervision and program support.

Requirements

  • A degree in education, learning specialist or a related field
  • Experience working in a school setting with elementary students
  • A commitment to equity and belonging in teaching practices
  • Excellent communication and organization skills

Responsibilities

  • Work with students in large and small groups to support their skills in: reading, including decoding, fluency, and comprehension writing, including paragraph structure, grammar, and mechanics executive functioning, including organizational and study strategies
  • Interpret and implement recommendations from neuropsychological evaluations.
  • Administer reading assessments, including DIBELS and Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment System.
  • Attend faculty, student, and parent support meetings.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and plan with teachers, families, and outside supports (such as tutors) in order to support student needs.
  • Supervisory duties and responsibilities as requested by divisional head.
