About The Position

ORR Protection is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Learning Specialist to support the design, development, and administration of organizational learning programs. The role combines hands-on Learning Management System (LMS) administration with instructional design and content development. The position is remote and open to candidates anywhere in the United States. The Learning Specialist administers the LMS, maintains learner and certification records, produces training reports, and works with IT/HRIS on system configurations and permissions. The role also designs and updates e-learning courses and training materials, collaborates with subject matter experts to make technical information accessible to learners, and supports blended learning formats. The position requires a remote-work setup conducive to focused work and virtual collaboration; occasional travel may be required.

Requirements

2–5 years of professional experience in a Learning & Development, Training, or Instructional Design role.
Hands-on experience administering an LMS, including content uploads, user/course management, and reporting.
Demonstrated instructional design and content development experience, including building courses with Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, or comparable software.
Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and accessible learning practices.
Strong written and visual communication skills, including the ability to turn complex information into clear, engaging learning materials.
Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy, consistency, and functionality of course content and training records.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, including working with subject matter experts and distributed teams and incorporating feedback.
Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing needs and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing priorities in a remote environment.
Problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting LMS and course-access issues and providing learner support.
Ability to use training data and learner feedback to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.
Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and maintain appropriate access to learner records.
Reliable internet connection and a home workspace conducive to focused work and virtual collaboration.

Nice To Haves

Background or experience in the Fire & Mission Critical industry.
Familiarity with video-editing or multimedia tools such as Camtasia or Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience with SCORM/xAPI standards and LMS integrations.

Responsibilities

Administer the organization's LMS, including uploading courses, enrolling users, assigning learning paths, and managing queries.
Maintain accurate learner records, certifications, and completion data in the LMS.
Generate LMS reports to track training completion, compliance, and engagement metrics.
Manage LMS configurations, user roles, and permissions in partnership with IT/HRIS as needed.
Design, develop, and update e-learning courses, job aids, and training materials using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline or Rise, or similar platforms.
Apply adult learning theory and instructional design best practices, such as ADDIE and SAM.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate technical or operational knowledge into clear, learner-friendly content.
Maintain existing training content to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Support blended learning solutions, including virtual instructor-led training, microlearning, and self-paced modules.
Stay current on instructional design trends, LMS capabilities, and e-learning tools to improve program quality.
Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.
