About The Position

The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia offering programs and resources about early American history through its museums – Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. The Learning team is part of the larger Learning and Community Engagement department; focusing on student programming both onsite in our museums, virtually, in the classroom and through support for self guided groups and homeschool educators.

Requirements

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in 17th/18th century history and how it relates to today
  • Knowledge of or interest in current educational methodologies
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Enjoys working with a diverse population of adults and children
  • Ability to learn and apply new information in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel to schools and work independently
  • Knowledge of or interest in program development

Nice To Haves

  • Valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Delivering curriculum-aligned, outreach-based historical programs for the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation in classrooms across Virginia.
  • Bringing 17th- and 18th-century history to life for student audiences using interactive and dialogic teaching methods to create relevant connections between the past and present.
