About The Position

This position is part of the Learning Assessment Coordinator (LAC) team that is striving to create a secure digital testing environment that is comfortable and friendly for students as well as efficient and convenient for Faculty. The LAC is a 100-seat digital test centre that offers a multitude of exam types: different testing procedures and platforms, external - drop-in exams, external high-stakes exams, and UofA midterm and final exams. We offer many services which means the complexity of administration and coordination increases as the LAC continues to grow each year. Our centre administers over 20,000 exams per academic year, which includes both UofA and external examinations. We offer services to numerous UofA faculties on campus (during peak exam times over 3,000 UofA students per month) and our external clients range from 37 independent vendors and over 150 various external examinations per month. The LAC Coordinator helps facilitate the implementation of flexible testing on campus and provides assistance with learning strategies that support a non-traditional approach to administering exams. This position is primarily responsible for the coordination and management of the extensive external (non-UofA) exam clients that are hosted at our test centre. This includes scheduling all individual external students into a data management system, liaising with different institutions, and implementing the entire workflow from initial client booking to the coordination of delivery on exam day. You will develop training materials and documents to help with the LAC exam process, assists with faculty and student support, coordinates exam operations and provides support to all LAC proctors with scheduling, training and job duties. The LAC Coordinator works in a challenging and demanding environment, where examinations are a high priority with minimal room for error. You need to demonstrate independence to integrate knowledge and experience in the daily performance of duties and exercise sound judgment and discretion on a wide variety of issues. YOu will also serve as a vital link between faculty, student and examinations to ensure accurate and effective timelines are met for all parties involved.
