About The Position

Under general supervision, the Learning Center Coordinator provides comprehensive leadership for campus-wide tutoring and academic support services. The Coordinator designs, implements, and evaluates innovative tutoring programs, embedded tutoring, supplemental instruction, and workshops to strengthen student success and retention. The role also includes responsibility for assessment, reporting, and innovative program development to enhance student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or related academic discipline
  • At least two (2) years of experience in an educational or academic support setting, including teaching/learning experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Ability to evaluate tutor qualifications and assign according to academic discipline, course needs, student demand, and applicable requirements.
  • Knowledge of tutoring methodologies, supplemental instruction, learning support strategies, and evidence-based student success practices.
  • Knowledge of higher education operations, academic support services, FERPA, accessibility requirements, and student support resources.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, establish priorities, solve complex operational problems, and make independent decisions within established policies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a structured tutor training program addressing tutoring practices, student engagement, referral procedures, accessibility, FERPA, technology, academic integrity, trauma-informed practices, and support for diverse learners.
  • Design, implement, and assess tutoring programs, embedded tutoring, supplemental instruction, and student success workshops.
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic divisions to align tutoring services with course needs and emerging student challenges; develops outreach strategies and promote tutoring programs.
  • Manage the Learning Center’s daily operations and instructional technology.
  • Collect, analyze, and report tutoring utilization, retention, and student learning outcome data to support institutional effectiveness and accreditation.
  • Assists with developing and monitoring the Learning Center budget; initiate purchasing requests; maintain appropriate supplies, technology, and instructional resources; and ensure responsible stewardship of college funds.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, onboarding, scheduling, supervising, and evaluation of tutors, technical assistants, and lab staff.
  • Performs tutoring session observations and reviews student feedback, data usage and learning outcomes to ensure the quality and effectiveness of academic support services.
  • Provide direct academic support or operational assistance when needed while ensuring that students receive appropriate tutoring, technology assistance, and referrals.
  • Oversee scheduling, usage tracking, early alerts, and reporting systems.
  • Provides reports and documentation needed to compile and complete FTE reporting requirements.
  • Recommend instructional materials, technology, equipment, and other resources to enhance services, and develop, implement, and periodically review Learning Center policies and procedures in collaboration with the Senior Director.
  • Participate in college committees, initiatives, and presentations to support student success and institutional goals.
