About The Position

The Learning and Behavior Support Assistant works with individual students and small groups to overcome barriers to learning, improve behavior, and support academic achievement. This role includes providing targeted interventions and implementing appropriate accommodations to support diverse learning and behavioral needs, ensuring all students can fully engage and succeed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a school setting
  • Experience supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted academic and behavioral interventions to support student progress
  • Implement individualized support strategies and accommodations to meet diverse learning needs
  • Promote positive behavior, inclusion, and student wellbeing
  • Support students with learning needs, helping them remain engaged and on task
  • Assist in managing and improving behavior in line with the school’s code of conduct
  • Implement behavior and skill-development plans under the guidance of specialists
  • Support social and emotional development using appropriate strategies
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor student progress and development
  • Communicate with parents and relevant professionals as needed
  • Collect and maintain accurate data on student progress and behavior
  • Attend training and collaborate with external support staff (e.g., ABA teams)
  • Supervise students during classes, breaks, and school activities to ensure safety
  • Support attendance and punctuality initiatives
  • Assist with student programs such as mentoring, student council, and extracurricular activities
  • Provide classroom or duty cover when needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and high professional standards
  • Engage in ongoing professional development
  • Contribute positively to teamwork and school culture
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably assigned by leadership
