Job duties include but not limited to: Responsible for assisting the Head Skating Instructor with all aspects of preparation, organization and delivery of the Learn to Skate program for children (ages 3 - 10) while contributing to a positive and safe environment for all participants and peers.
Requirements
- Two years demonstrated experience which includes working with children and adults in an instructional sports setting and experience in a recognized ice sport such as Hockey and /or Figure Skating / Ringette
- Minimum age of 16 years of old at the start of employment
- Current certifications in Standard First Aid OR Intermediate First Aid with CPR C or AED
- High Five Certificate and adherence to the principles of Healthy Child Development (Children ages 6 to 12 years)
- Level 1 NCCP Theory
- City of Markham Learn to Skate Training
- Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills, leadership skills, customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to teach basic level skating and/or hockey to children and youth.
- Demonstrated ability to skate at the level required for instruction
- Successful candidates will be required to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening letter as determined by the City of Markham as a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Head Skating Instructor with all aspects of preparation, organization and delivery of the Learn to Skate program for children (ages 3 - 10)
- Contributing to a positive and safe environment for all participants and peers.
