Job duties include but not limited to: Responsible for assisting the Head Skating Instructor with all aspects of preparation, organization and delivery of the Learn to Skate program for children (ages 3 - 10) while contributing to a positive and safe environment for all participants and peers.

Requirements

  • Two years demonstrated experience which includes working with children and adults in an instructional sports setting and experience in a recognized ice sport such as Hockey and /or Figure Skating / Ringette
  • Minimum age of 16 years of old at the start of employment
  • Current certifications in Standard First Aid OR Intermediate First Aid with CPR C or AED
  • High Five Certificate and adherence to the principles of Healthy Child Development (Children ages 6 to 12 years)
  • Level 1 NCCP Theory
  • City of Markham Learn to Skate Training
  • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills, leadership skills, customer service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons, parents and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Ability to teach basic level skating and/or hockey to children and youth.
  • Demonstrated ability to skate at the level required for instruction
  • Successful candidates will be required to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening letter as determined by the City of Markham as a condition of employment.
