About The Position

Support after school program to enrich students' educational experiences that allows them to meet their full potential. Provide tutoring and homework help to help students demonstrate growth in Math and Reading/Language Arts skills, including improving positive behavior changes and school attendance to support academic growth.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Para Pro test or an Associate Degree.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to assist and guide students to reinforce math, reading/language arts, STEM, and other skills.
• Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel).
• Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
• Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
• Effective writing and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with students is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Helps students with homework and plans and implements engaging activities for school-age children in a developmentally appropriate manner
• Obtains twelve (12) professional development hours each year
• Returns all after-school supplies to the appropriate location
• Works on a weekly basis with core teachers in developing individualized plans for at-risk students
• Informs site coordinator of absences as far in advance as possible
• Encourages parent involvement by facilitating communication with parents of participating students
• Performs other duties as assigned by the program director and site director
• Assist guidance, pupil services staff or building administration, as needed.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.
