About The Position

Great Plains Manufacturing, a Kubota Company, is seeking Summer Interns for their 2027 Internship Program. These internships are on-site in the Salina, KS area and offer full-time employment from Mid-May to Early-August. Interns will earn $20 per hour and participate in a project with a mentor and supportive peers, applying college knowledge in a practical work setting. The program also includes social activities to foster connections among interns and employees. Lean Engineer Interns will work on a project in Lean Engineering related to manufacturing agricultural or construction equipment within one of the Salina, KS facilities.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Ag Systems or other relevant Engineering major
  • Willingness to live within commuting distance of the assigned location, typically in the Salina, KS or Abilene, KS area for the duration of the Summer
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week) during the Summer
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening test within a week of your first day of employment
  • Providing, upon your first day of employment, satisfactory proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States, and your completion of an Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to the Salina, KS area and commute to and from work and activities throughout the Summer

  • Completed at least 30 credit hours by beginning of internship
  • Self-motivated with good project management, organization and planning skills
  • Ability to communicate plans and information in a concise, effective manner in both verbal and written forms
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn
  • Critical thinking skills and a positive approach to solving problems
  • Team player mindset and outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work closely with other engineers as well as team members on the production floor
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Basic CAD software knowledge helpful, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Work on a project in Lean Engineering as it relates to manufacturing agricultural or construction equipment.
  • Apply college knowledge in the workplace and gain practical work experience.
  • Participate in organized activities to get to know other interns and employees.

  • Housing is provided for interns who currently reside outside the Salina, KS area.
  • Housing will be provided within a 20-mile radius of your assigned location, if needed.
