About The Position

The League Manager is the operational core of the Brodie League. You’re the person captains rely on, the reason game nights run seamlessly, and the standard every league night is held to. You anticipate problems before they surface, hold every game night to a premium standard, and treat every gym like it reflects the Brodie brand. This role combines league operations, coaching, youth programming, and community engagement. In addition to overseeing game-day operations, you'll play a key role in supporting and growing our youth basketball programming, creating positive experiences for young athletes and their families. We're specifically looking for candidates with direct basketball experience, coaching experience, and a passion for working with youth. Whether you've coached teams, led basketball camps, managed youth programs, or played an active role in your local basketball community, you'll bring the credibility, leadership, and enthusiasm needed to help grow the game and represent the Brodie brand in Oakville.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in sports, recreation, community programming, coaching, education, events, hospitality, or customer-facing operations
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, teaching, or leading youth programs, camps, sports teams, or community initiatives
  • Strong passion for basketball and the culture surrounding the game
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Reliable access to transportation sufficient to transport league equipment and materials
  • Demonstrated ability to create positive experiences for participants, customers, or community members
  • Availability to work weekends, as game nights and programming require
  • Must operate as a self-employed individual and be responsible for all tax remittances and HST obligations where applicable

  • Existing network within the Oakville basketball, recreation, or youth sports community
  • Experience managing facilities, officials, volunteers, or community partners
  • Experience in sports operations, event management, or recreation leadership
  • Experience playing in or captaining a competitive basketball league

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage an airtight season schedule across all divisions, gyms, and time slots
  • Own team placement, division balancing, and captain onboarding from day one
  • Run game nights at a premium standard: the right refs, the right setup, zero chaos
  • Manage standings, stats, and weekly results with accuracy and speed
  • Execute playoffs and championship events that players talk about for years
  • Support the delivery and growth of Brodie's youth basketball programming in Oakville
  • Build positive relationships with youth athletes, parents, coaches, and community partners
  • Assist with program scheduling, registrations, and day-to-day operations
  • Help create a safe, engaging, and development-focused environment for participants
  • Represent the Brodie brand within the local basketball community and support future growth initiatives
  • Hold gym partners to the same standard we hold ourselves
  • Book and manage court time so nothing is ever scrambled or last-minute
  • Show up to every game night like the venue is a reflection of the brand, because it is
  • Track registrations, capacity, and team health weekly
  • Spot issues early and act on them before they become problems
  • Keep leadership informed with clear, accurate updates
