About The Position

V2X is seeking a highly skilled and experientially relevant former Special Forces Battalion Commander to coach Advanced Operating Base (AOB) and Special Operations Task Force (SOTF) commanders and staffs. The goal is to significantly increase unit and individual proficiency through seminar-focused learning opportunities and constructive After-Action Reviews. The SOF Coach will possess current knowledge of the War Fighting Functions and apply them to SOTF/AOB/ODA operations including Special Reconnaissance, Direct Action, Foreign Internal Defense, Unconventional Warfare, Counterinsurgency, and Security Force Assistance as part of Unified Land Operations. The mission of the Leader Training Program (LTP) is to coach BCT leadership, staff, and subordinate Battalion leadership. This position is full-time working for the National Training Center Warfighter-Training Readiness Solutions (WTRS) contract at the National Training Center (NTC), located at Fort Irwin, CA. WTRS operations support the NTC mission to provide realistic joint and combined arms training and is focused on developing soldiers, leaders, and units of the United States military for success on the 21st Century Battlefield. The LTP Team regularly exercises independent judgment providing oversight, supervision, and training. LTP Coaches teach, coach, and lead counterparts and their staffs through a program of tactical instruction that will prepare them to conduct operations in a large-scale combat scenario as part of BCT Decisive Action.

Requirements

  • Must have experience leading and training a brigade or battalion.
  • Shall be able to instruct and instruct SOF/AOB Commanders and lead them through a program of tactical instruction that will prepare them to conduct Special Reconnaissance, Direct Action, Foreign Internal Defense, Unconventional Warfare, Counterinsurgency, and Security Force Assistance as part of Unified Land Operations.
  • Current with US Army doctrine and tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Highly skilled and possess relevant former SOF battalion experience.
  • Ability to effectively instruct AOBs and their staff through seminar-focused learning opportunities and constructive After-Action Reviews (AARs).
  • Experience in unit training evaluations using live and virtual combat simulations.
  • Familiarity with current warfighting technology to enable and facilitate coaching use of AOB capabilities by the training unit.
  • Experience in designing and preparing training scenarios.
  • Must stay current on Army and Joint Doctrine to include regulations, policy changes, terms, tactics, techniques and procedures used in DATE operations.
  • Must be a former Commander of an SF unit.
  • Must possess, at a minimum, the requisite military experience at the tactical command level consistent with the LTP unit of assignment.
  • Must demonstrate U.S. Army practical experience and professional military education commensurate with duty requirements.
  • Must be able to work non-standard schedules based on mission requirements that include extended hours and/or weekends.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs (WORD, EXCEL, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC) to utilize government operating systems.
  • Must maintain a valid state Driver's License and maintain Fort Irwin, CA post driving privileges.
  • Must be able to obtain Military vehicle license to drive a HMMWV, or its Army equivalent.
  • Must be able travel off road in company and military tactical vehicles, when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Combat experience is desired.
  • Experience at a CTC as an Observer Coach/Trainer (OC/T).
  • Experience at the U.S. Army Brigade Combat Team level or below.
