About The Position

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Leadership Trainer for its Learning and Development (L&D) Department. This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of leadership and professional development training courses for NYCHA employees. The L&D Department aims to provide training and professional development to ensure employees can perform their jobs safely and effectively, and to prepare them for current and future roles. The Leadership Trainer will work under the guidance of the Leadership and Professional Development Administrator and will have significant autonomy in planning, developing, coordinating, evaluating, and administering training programs. These programs are designed to foster effective community relations among employees and with the public, address issues in housing and development, and meet the needs of the NYCHA employee community through collaboration with internal and external departments.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in '1' above.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver leadership training & professional development programs that align with organizational goals.
  • Assist with coordinating the design and development of training manuals and materials, including trainer’s guides in collaboration with an instructional design team.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions on topics such as leadership development, team building, conflict resolution, and self-care/community care.
  • Assess training needs and create customized training solutions for NYCHA employees (e.g., creating and distributing surveys and/or conducting focus groups).
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics.
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders at all levels within the organization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure training programs meet the needs of the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in leadership development.
  • Schedule training classes using a Learning Management System (Cornerstone).
  • Lead or support special projects as necessary.
