About The Position

The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) is seeking a Leadership Trainer to join its Learning and Development (L&D) Department. This role is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of NYCHA’s leadership and professional development training courses for its employees. The L&D Department aims to provide service coordination and delivery of training and professional development to ensure NYCHA employees can perform their jobs safely and effectively. The department offers both technical training and leadership development courses, customized to NYCHA's standard operating procedures. The Leadership Trainer will contribute to preparing employees for their current roles and future aspirations, while managing the organization's knowledge base. This position involves working as part of a team to create and facilitate training that addresses challenges in housing and development, and collaborating with internal and external departments to develop workforce education programs.

Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
  • High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver leadership training & professional development programs that align with organizational goals.
  • Assist with coordinating the design and development of training manuals and materials, including trainer’s guides in collaboration with an instructional design team.
  • Facilitate engaging and interactive training sessions on topics such as leadership development, team building, conflict resolution, and self-care/community care.
  • Assess training needs and create customized training solutions for NYCHA employees (e.g., creating and distributing surveys and/or conducting focus groups).
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics.
  • Provide coaching and support to leaders at all levels within the organization.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure training programs meet the needs of the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in leadership development.
  • Schedule training classes using a Learning Management System (Cornerstone).
  • Lead or support special projects as necessary.
