Leadership board members assist with launch steps 8–10 and help operate a live LifeWise program. They provide input and direction to the program director as the director manages day-to-day operations. Board members support the program’s operations across five areas: Leadership (recruiting and onboarding staff and volunteers), Location (researching, securing, and preparing facilities and transportation), Logistics (coordinating details and maintaining positive communications with the school), Loot (leading fundraising and managing the budget and finances), and Language (ensuring public communications are excellent and use appropriate messaging). The board should have three to nine members in addition to the program director, with representation from at least three churches and from across the Christian community, including a range of ages, professions, genders, and races. Each of the five operational areas must have a responsible board member, though members may cover more than one area. Members must have a mature Christian faith consistent with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith, actively participate and commit to an aligned local church, complete role-specific training, and complete a background check and Child Abuse Awareness and Mandated Reporting training every three years. They are expected to execute the T-Minus Plan before launch, participate in fundraising, attend scheduled meetings, serve for at least one year, and pray consistently for the local program. Board members may not hold a paid position within the program while serving on its leadership board. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to the gospel-centered purposes of a local LifeWise program and have the skills, knowledge, and relationships to help get work done. Each member must provide contact information for a local church leader at a church where they actively participate. Applicants apply through the program webpage using the “Join the Team” button and will be contacted by the LifeWise team about next steps. The position is classified as volunteer. LifeWise Academy states that its hiring practices and EEO policy comply with federal and state law and notes the religious-organization exception to employment discrimination laws.
