About The Position

Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in Ethnic Studies. This role supports the implementation of SoER-funded Día de Muertos programming. The position involves assisting with survey preparation, data collection and analysis, volunteer coordination, social media and outreach, event support, and project documentation. The student assistant will work under the supervision of the Ethnic Studies department coordinator and in coordination with the faculty project lead.

Requirements

  • Current Stanislaus State undergraduate or graduate student in good academic standing
  • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
  • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units.
  • Applicants will be required to disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years before an offer of employment is extended.
  • Applicants who reach the final stages of the application process must sign a release form that authorizes the release of information by the applicant’s current and/or former employers to the CSU concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct.

  • Interest in Ethnic Studies, culturally responsive programming, community engagement, or student success
  • Basic Spanish-language skills preferred, but not required
  • Availability for key October project dates required

Responsibilities

  • Work under the supervision of the Ethnic Studies department coordinator and in coordination with the faculty project lead
  • Support implementation of SoER-funded Día de Muertos programming
  • Assist the faculty project lead with preparing participant surveys and assessment materials
  • Administer, distribute, and collect participant surveys and other feedback instruments during campus and community programming
  • Track attendance, volunteer participation, and other project participation measures
  • Organize, enter, compile, and analyze quantitative and qualitative survey and assessment data
  • Prepare a summary assessment report of participation, survey findings, participant feedback, and project outcomes for review by the faculty project lead
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and communication and oversee volunteers during assigned event activities
  • Coordinate with students in participating Ethnic Studies courses, student organizations, volunteers, and other project participants as needed
  • Assist with social media, publicity, and outreach efforts, including communicating event information to campus and local media outlets
  • Assist with campus and downtown event setup, implementation, and breakdown
  • Support invited speakers, panel and workshop activities, and community-engagement programming
  • Assist with and oversee assigned information/tabling and interactive arts and crafts activities during Día de Muertos programming
  • Assist with project documentation and organization of materials needed for grant reporting
  • Perform other project-related duties consistent with the SoER-funded initiative
  • Other duties as assigned
