About The Position

A Lead Welder/Fitter is required to safely prepare various alloys for fabrication processing, welding, and fitting. The Lead Welder/Fitter is an individual contributor and people leader that requires little or no supervisory assistance and possesses high-level knowledge in welding, fabrication technology and related applications. Teaching/leading others and transferring knowledge within assigned teams is a critical component of this position. Additionally, the Lead Welder/Fitter will lead and engage RVII to achieve all assigned manufacturing goals: Safety (no one gets hurt), Quality (free of defect), On-Time Delivery (meet customer delivery dates), Budget (at or below estimated hours) and People (develop & retain “hungry, humble and smart” leaders).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated safety awareness and training in a construction/manufacturing environment
  • Safe operation of all welding and fabrication equipment
  • Read measuring devices and perform mathematical calculations
  • Follow verbal and written directions such as work orders or drawings
  • Daily use of grinders, torches, plasma cutters, overhead cranes, rigging and forklifts
  • Perform x-ray quality welds that are code/customer compliant
  • Read, interpret, and communicate WPS, QC plans, work instructions, blueprints, ASME code and AWS weld symbology
  • Accurately layout and fit products as directed by drawing or process/router sheet
  • Create fixtures to safely hold parts while being welded, prepped or cut
  • Perform basic NDE procedures (LPT and VT) as needed
  • Understand tolerances and general quality control principles and applications
  • Knowledge of welding principles applications and methods including but not limited to: SAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW
  • 5+ years of welding/fitting experience preferably in ASME Code pressure vessels
  • Welding with multiple processes in multiple positions as required
  • Provide clear communication of who is doing what by when
  • Evaluation and clear communication of risks, hazards, lessons learned and acceptance criteria
  • Verify team competence in technical practices and execution
  • Provide viable solutions and technical support to manufacturing staff and internal customers
  • Assist in interviewing/testing new candidates and training current employees as needed
  • Support Manufacturing Coordinators and Engineering staff as needed
  • Facilitate the qualification of new PQR and WPQ
  • Lead the selection and distribution of filler metals and welding consumables
  • Must be able to complete and pass a physical assessment
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without accommodation
  • Formal training in Welding Technology or 5+ years of practical welding & fabrication experience
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and stand or sit for extended periods in an office and/or industrial environment
