About The Position

Kingston Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinarian with 5+ years of experience to join their small animal practice in Mentone, Melbourne, as a Lead Veterinarian. This role offers an exciting opportunity to combine high-quality patient care with mentoring, coaching, and team leadership. The successful candidate will work alongside a supportive team and an exceptional Practice Manager to foster a positive clinic culture and drive clinical excellence. The position involves a balanced mix of consulting, surgery, diagnostics, and case management, with exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, including orthopaedics. Daily case rounds, fortnightly veterinarian meetings, and opportunities to mentor veterinarians and nursing staff are integral to the role. The clinic is equipped with modern diagnostic and surgical equipment, including digital radiography, dental radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, and electrocautery. The Lead Veterinarian will provide clinical leadership, mentor the veterinary team, promote a positive team culture, assist with clinical standards, and collaborate with the Practice Manager and leadership network. The role emphasizes hands-on clinical work while making a meaningful impact on the team.

Requirements

  • BVSc (or equivalent) and eligible for veterinary registration in Victoria
  • 5+ years of experience in small animal practice
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Enjoys mentoring and supporting colleagues
  • Previous leadership experience or a genuine interest in developing leadership capabilities
