About The Position

Deliver the highest level of veterinary care to every pet in a professional and ethical manner while ensuring that the client and their pet have an exceptional experience. Communicate, demonstrate and support a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level to optimize medical care, client experience, associate engagement and hospital performance. Consult with the Practice Manager to ensure regulatory and quality compliance, including controlled substance management, radiation safety, charging consistency, equipment maintenance, clinical essentials and other practice priorities. Serve as the Radiation Safety Officer for the hospital. Support the training of the veterinary provider team on Banfield guidelines and practices and supervise associates to ensure compliance. Establish trust and gain confidence and compliance of clients through effectively delivering appropriate preventive care, performing complete diagnostic workups, developing thorough treatment plans, communicating home care instructions, and planning follow-up visits. Support development of technical medical skills for veterinary assistants/technicians and promote technician appointments. Assimilate information gathered through effective history taking, physical examination and diagnostic workup to arrive at an appropriate and effective clinical decision. Lead veterinary hospital team through the daily schedule and caseload, delegating tasks to paraprofessionals and improving hospital efficiency. Practice veterinary medicine in a manner compliant with State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled Substance laws and Banfield Code of Ethics, along with appropriate medical record documentation. Address and resolve client concerns arising from the medical care of a pet. Act as compliance communications liaison for the hospital ensuring associates remain informed, engaged and have opportunities to provide feedback. Educate clients, hospital associates and PetSmart associates to improve their level of knowledge about veterinary care and husbandry. Mentor veterinary student externs and students in summer job programs. Enhance medical quality, hospital efficiency and hospital profitability. Partner with the Practice Manager, Area Chief of Staff and Regional Asset Protection Specialist to ensure hospital compliance with all practice policies and procedures and with all local, state and federal laws.

Requirements

  • DVM (or foreign equivalent)
  • Utah veterinary license
  • One year of experience practicing as a Veterinarian
