This role involves mentoring, teaching, guiding, and providing leadership to Treaters. The Lead Treater will work collaboratively with other Leads, Supervisors, and the Plant Manager, communicating operational information across departments regarding scheduling, quality control, and maintenance. Responsibilities include operating and controlling various systems such as boilers, pressure vessels, vacuum and transfer pumps, and condensate recovery systems. The role also involves calculating and preparing preservative mixes, managing transfer and storage systems, processing and storing hazardous waste, and operating emergency response equipment. Key duties include changing treatment charges, inspecting materials for conformance, recording and documenting system activities to ensure compliance with operating procedures, corporate policies, and state/federal regulations. The Lead Treater will also assist with preservative inventory management, including sampling, receiving, mixing, and usage control, as well as sampling, testing, and treating process waste-water systems. Hazardous waste management, including cleaning systems and documentation, is also a part of the role. Additionally, the position requires building relationships with suppliers and contractors, ordering fuel and preservative materials, and serving as a member of the safety committee. The role demands the ability to answer questions and make critical decisions, with a solid understanding of federal and state regulations related to the treating department, including OSHA, EPA, and hazardous waste management.
