Requirements

  • Prior lead or supervisory experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather, around chemicals, heavy equipment, and heights
  • Comfortable handling hazardous materials
  • Valid driver's license
  • General mechanical/industrial maintenance aptitude
  • Basic documentation/recordkeeping ability
  • Must pass background check, drug screen, and physical

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience in wood treating/industrial process operations (or similar plant environment)
  • Hands-on experience operating pressure vessels, boilers, or vacuum/condensate systems
  • Experience with preservative chemicals (creosote, penta, CCA)
  • Wastewater/water sampling experience
  • Familiarity with EPA/RCRA hazardous waste rules

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, teach, guide & provide leadership to Treaters.
  • Work together with other Leads, Supervisors & Plant Manager.
  • Communicate operational information with other department Leads & Supervisors as it relates to scheduling treatment, quality control & maintenance.
  • Operate/control systems by prescribed operating procedures. Including but not limited to: Boilers & associated equipment, Pressure Vessels, Vacuum & Transfer pumps, Condensate recovery systems, calculating/making preservative mix, transfer & storage systems, hazardous waste processing & storage, emergency response equipment.
  • Change treatment charges, identify/inspect materials for conformance & inspect binders/cables.
  • Record & document systems activity to assure accurate processing of materials in conformance with standard operating procedures, corporate policy, as well as state & federal rules & regulations.
  • Assist in preservative inventory management. Including sampling, receiving, mixing & usage control.
  • Sample, test, & treat process waste-water systems. Including inspection & documentation of chemical usage & supplies inventory.
  • Clean systems, handle process, store & document hazardous waste management.
  • Build/maintain excellent relationships with suppliers & contractors.
  • Order M.E.Q fuel, preservative base oil & preservative blocks.
  • Member of safety committee.
  • Ability & knowledge to answer questions & make critical decisions.
  • Solid knowledge of federal & state regulations related to treating department. Including safety (OSHA, ) Environmental (EPA) & hazardous waste generation & storage.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
