Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Power Systems, Adult Education, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electric system operations, including real‑time operations or coordination preferred
  • Demonstrated experience delivering training, including classroom instruction, simulator‑based training, or continuing education preferred
  • Experience developing training materials, evaluations, and qualification programs preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct training courses for Transmission Control Center operators including lesson plans, presentations, and assessments.
  • Maintain auditable training files and data including attendance records, training material, NERC Certification Education Hours (CEHs), etc.
  • Develop detailed training schedules ensuring that the minimum NERC CEHs are met for all Control Center NERC Certified staff.
  • Develop and submit for NERC approval NERC course Individual Learning Activities (ILAs).
  • Evaluate and modify existing training programs and materials incorporating new systems, technologies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a 3-year training plan.
  • Develop or revise Job Task Analysis as applicable.
  • Train, develop, mentor and coach new Transmission Control Center operators
  • Develop training programs to be used in the EMS Simulator.
  • Coordinate operator attendance at ISO-NE System Operator Training (SOTs).
  • Participate in incident analysis, committees, and presentations.
  • Represent National Grid on various industry committees related to training.
  • Provide comments regarding industry training standards as necessary.
  • Maintain NERC Reliability Coordinator certification.
  • Maintain Clearance and Control authorization.
