We are seeking a Power Electronics Test & Validation Lead Technician to join our dynamic team. The role requires a can-do attitude, vigor, determination, excellence, quick learning, and ownership with minimal oversight. The level will depend on the candidate's experience.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical circuits, power electronics systems, and electronic components.
  • Strong understanding of high-voltage systems and safe HV handling procedures.
  • Extensive experience utilizing laboratory instrumentation including oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, DAQs, power supplies, electronic loads, battery simulators, and environmental test equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills involving electrical, mechanical, and thermal systems.
  • Advanced PCBA rework, soldering, harness fabrication, and prototype build experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience coordinating technical personnel, priorities, or laboratory operations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and changing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to laboratory safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of technician experience within automotive, power electronics, battery systems, or product validation environments.
  • Prior experience in a senior technician, lead technician, or technical leadership role.
  • Experience supporting environmental, durability, thermal, reliability, and validation testing programs.
  • Experience with automated test systems, LabVIEW, NI hardware, and data acquisition platforms.
  • Familiarity with laboratory management and planning tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, Confluence, and 3DX/3DS.
  • Experience commissioning, maintaining, and improving laboratory infrastructure and test stations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day technician activities within the Power Electronics Test & Validation lab, ensuring support aligns with program priorities, validation schedules, and engineering needs.
  • Coordinate technician assignments, workload balancing, and lab resource utilization to support multiple concurrent development and validation programs.
  • Serve as the primary technician point of contact for test execution support, lab readiness, troubleshooting escalations, and technician coordination.
  • Support and oversee power electronics testing activities including functional, environmental, thermal, durability, software, and end-of-line (EOL) validation testing.
  • Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and project leads to ensure test plans are executed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
  • Drive lab readiness by ensuring test stations, instrumentation, fixtures, consumables, and supporting infrastructure are properly maintained and available.
  • Support complex troubleshooting, failure analysis, and root cause investigations involving test equipment, hardware, software, and power electronics assemblies.
  • Mentor and train technicians on lab equipment, testing methodologies, troubleshooting techniques, safety practices, and standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and improve technician work instructions, setup procedures, training materials, and best practices to improve consistency and quality.
  • Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, lab operations, test station utilization, and technician productivity.
  • Coordinate lab inventory, tooling, equipment maintenance, calibration activities, and procurement of consumables as required.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of test setups, configuration changes, troubleshooting activities, test results, and lab processes.
  • Maintain lab organization and compliance with 5S, safety standards, and high-voltage operating procedures.
  • Support prototype, pre-production, and production validation activities across multiple vehicle and power electronics development programs.
  • Represent the technician organization in cross-functional discussions and provide feedback regarding resource requirements, lab capabilities, and operational improvements.
