About The Position

This position leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources, information, and tools. The Lead Technician identifies customer needs and business priorities, coordinates and executes work assignments, and provides advice, feedback, and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved. They supervise associates by assigning duties, communicating goals, providing feedback and follow-up, and monitoring performance. This role also teaches and supports company policies and procedures and ensures compliance. The Lead Technician participates in the hiring, promotion, coaching, teaching, job shadowing, technician certification, and evaluation of associates. They maintain quality and safety standards in their assigned area of responsibility by ensuring equipment, tools, and supplies are in proper working order and readily available. The Lead Technician ensures associates are trained on Logistics and company policies and procedures and monitors compliance. They distribute and maintain procedures and supporting documentation, and assign and support activities to ensure compliance with external rules and regulations (e.g., OSHA, Hazardous Waste, NFPA, Storm Water, DOT). The Lead Technician serves as an expert in landscape management, manages assigned areas using horticulture methods, and maintains garden beds, containers, and landscape plants. They leverage technology to complete work orders and maintain records, logs, and documentation. This role performs landscaping tasks such as cutting grass, weed management, and raking leaves, and applies planting and pruning techniques as needed. The Lead Technician identifies and resolves pest and disease issues through chemical applications, troubleshoots, and provides customer service by communicating with facility users. They resolve customer problems and complaints and ensure work environments are maintained according to Walmart policies and procedures. The role demonstrates, promotes, and supports compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity, using the Open Door Policy, and performs other facility-related maintenance duties as assigned. The Lead Technician demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others. They build relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders, identify business needs, determine and carry out necessary processes and practices, monitor progress and results, and adapt to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities. The role models compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid, state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last 3 years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last 3 years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to read and speak in the English language.
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in horticulture or related area.
  • Certified nursery and/or landscape professional.
  • Intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Landscaping/gardening crew leader or supervisor.
  • Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish.
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).
