About The Position

The Lead Technical Project Manager identifies, plans, and coordinates a set of related projects within a program, managing their interdependencies in support of specific business strategies across the Commerce Technology Portfolio and Program. This role also serves as the AI tool and process owner for the team’s project management methodologies—responsible for selecting, standardizing, and continuously improving the practices and AI tooling the team utilizes, including the practical application of AI to planning, forecasting, and reporting. This role sits with the Commerce Project Management Team, which is responsible for technical project management, project financial management, and program strategy, partnering with Technology, Product, and Design to plan and deliver against our objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of project management experience working with technical teams developing enterprise-class solutions.
  • Experience owning or standardizing project management tools, processes, and methodologies for a team.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI and generative tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to reporting, forecasting, and project management workflows—transforming complex data sets into actionable insights, automating report generation, and improving forecasting accuracy and executive-level reporting.
  • Experience working closely with technology, creative, and user experience teams.
  • Experience with budget tracking and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Solid ability to drive complex forecasts and capacity plans and to communicate risks and dependencies to leaders and business partners.
  • Hands-on experience with practices such as Agile, Lean, Kanban, SAFe and/or Waterfall methodologies.
  • Ability to understand architectural and technical aspects of projects.
  • Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience with Agile Application Lifecycle Management and development tools like JIRA and Confluence Wiki. Jira expertise is a must.
  • Understanding of Agile and SAFe technical practices, DevOps, and testing concepts (CI/CD, TDD).
  • Experience coaching and mentoring teams on project management standard methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the tool and process owner leader for the team’s AI project management methodologies, evaluating, standardizing, and improving the practices and tooling used across the portfolio.
  • Design, develop, and deliver AI-assisted reporting solutions, using advanced analytics and generative AI tools to automate report generation and produce decision-ready insights.
  • Establish practical guidelines and documentation for applying AI across the project lifecycle—planning, forecasting, risk identification, status reporting, and stakeholder communication—and help the team adopt them.
  • Lead and manage complex project plans, ensuring effective collaboration across teams and workstreams.
  • Act as the point of contact for project stakeholders, providing regular updates and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Use expertise in user AI analytics tools to guide and inform project decisions.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate cross-functional team meetings, fostering a collaborative and productive environment.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including timelines, budgets, and prioritization plans.
  • Assist product owners in developing outcome-based roadmaps, aligning project goals with strategic outcomes.
  • Benchmark and recommend tools, providing insights on tool selection, implementation, and rollout.
  • Coach team members on project management standards and the practical use of AI-enabled workflows.
  • Promote critical thinking and innovative approaches throughout the project.
  • Produce monthly expense and capital forecasts.
  • Research and provide cause of change for variances from project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Maintain a continuous view of resource demand and capacity across projects, proactively partnering with leadership to plan for leveled resource allocation across development and sustainment activities.
  • Translate financial information and objectives to leaders, business partners, Finance, and Sourcing & Procurement to tell the ‘story’ behind the numbers.
