About The Position

A Lead Technician must demonstrate a safety-first work routine, have a proficient understanding of the technical aspects associated with his/her assigned process and the ability to work with process engineering or management to resolve production issues. The individual needs to be able to coordinate workflow with co-workers and effectively communicate cross functionally and train or cross train as required. The individual in this position will perform a variety of tasks in support of the optical and metal coating processes and inspections where they will be expected to perform the processes, rely on moderate experience and judgement to plan and accomplish tasks, solve problems, adapt new procedures, and act as a resource for others under minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post high school training)
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in an optical deposition lab
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience as technical lead, problem solving skills, leadership, and technical collaboration.
  • Ability to work safely with various deposition processing equipment, chemicals, and raw production materials in a lab setting with basic gowning requirements.
  • Comfortable running deposition production equipment independently, accurately follow detailed process specific instructions.
  • Understand run data, run errors, troubleshoot fixes, and work towards resolution, to keep things operating and completing successfully.
  • Intermediate computer skills for data recording, report creation, work delegation, and documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, design, and execute experiments to determine root cause.
  • Understanding of FOD and FOD reduction methods and concerns

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of optics and chambers.
  • PVD and metal preparation and deposition.
  • Metrology including but not limited to spectral or metal thickness evaluation.
  • Reading technical drawings, evaluating and interpreting, and performing defect inspection.
  • Troubleshooting, experimenting, and contributing technically to the failure analysis of a process or parts, internal and external to our factory.
  • Cross functional communication and teamwork to track WIP, move production, and address process anomalies in a timely manner.
  • When applicable, work on development efforts with process engineers.
  • Develop or update documentation, create reports, or log data as needed.
