Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher in education or a related field with two years of classroom experience, or a technical diploma in education, or significant college credit in early childhood education.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • High energy and the ability to work well with staff, children, and parents while fostering a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of child development.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Completion of 10 hours of Health and Safety Orientation Training within the first 90 days.
  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Comprehensive background check required.
  • Completion of 10 hours of annual training each year after the first year.
  • Strong observational and situational awareness skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic leadership and decision-making capabilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage time and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Three-year Motor Vehicle Report.
  • TB test and drug testing.
  • Background check.
  • Work performed in an office and childcare environment.
  • Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards.
  • Track progress of children through developmentally appropriate screenings and assessments.
  • Input student data in the educational tracking system consistently.
  • Maintain accurate records, forms, and files.
  • Lead by example and encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
  • Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to engage children and encourage social, cognitive, and emotional growth.
  • Maintain frequent communication with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences.
  • Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
  • Ensure a healthy classroom environment including hygiene, cleanliness, safety, and security of children.
  • Supervise teacher assistants and classroom volunteers to ensure adherence to planned activities and safety standards.
  • Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Assist where needed to ensure compliance.
