The Lead Teacher will serve as the lead educator in an integrated classroom environment for children with and without developmental delays as part of the Nisonger Center's full day Early Childhood Program. This role involves planning and adapting curriculum for approximately 25% of children in the classroom who have developmental delays or disabilities. The Lead Teacher will work closely with the Early Intervention team to review and plan pathways to achieve the goals of the Individualized Family Service Plan for each child. This position oversees, integrates, and monitors progress of daily and long-term planning to meet the developmental and educational goals of all students. The Lead Teacher assesses children's growth and development using the Assessment, Evaluation, and Programming System (AEPS) Curriculum and communicates formal and informal assessment results and developmental progress of children to parents. This role serves as a child advocate to ensure all social, emotional, physical, and educational needs are met in compliance with the Nisonger Center's philosophy, curriculum policies, and state licensing rules. The Lead Teacher plans and executes daily activities in the classroom, develops and writes lesson plans to provide cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development of children in the assigned group, and implements, evaluates, and disseminates classroom programming, routines, policies, and procedures. This position also conducts systematic data collection and evaluates program effectiveness, prepares written summaries of curriculum and children's daily educational experiences, and implements health, safety, and security processes and procedures. Additionally, the Lead Teacher advises, instructs, and supervises entry-level teachers, teaching assistants, and student employees with written plans and classroom behavior, provides in-service and pre-service training for students, evaluates knowledge and performance competencies of students, and participates in professional development activities and complies with continuing education requirements.
