About The Position

The Lead Teacher (2-3 year old) is responsible for providing a safe, positive, creative, and nurturing learning environment at all times. This role involves guiding children to learn language, gain autonomy, interact socially, and participate in physical activities. The Lead Teacher will keep parents informed of their child’s progress and growth, assist team members and volunteers, and complete all required paperwork and documentation. They will also delegate and assign tasks, encourage parent participation, ensure all classroom activities are developmentally appropriate, and handle emergency situations. A key aspect of this role is to provide a setting that meets the individual needs of children, assess their developmental needs, and write individual lesson plans. The Lead Teacher must be flexible, work professionally with colleagues, love working with young children, and support the diversity initiatives of the school.

Requirements

Completed Associate's Degree or CDA in Infant/Toddler (2's/toddler Teacher).
1 to 2 years of experience working with children (ages 2-5).
Familiarity with Head Start, the Creative Curriculum, preschool assessments, creating lesson plans, behavior management, and early childhood practices.
Must be willing to complete paperwork including lesson plans, child assessments, child daily logs, and classroom logs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requires minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

Completed Associate's Degree or enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in early childhood education is preferred.
Professional NY State Certification in Early Childhood Education B-2 (preferred).
Preferably in a childcare or school setting.
