About The Position

The Lead Teacher role is an added responsibility for experienced LEEEC Teachers who demonstrate strong classroom practice, reliability, and a commitment to team support. Lead Teachers continue in their current classroom assignment and receive a $1.50/ hr increase to reflect the additional responsibilities outlined below. This role is designed to strengthen communication, consistency, and peer support across the teaching team. Lead Teachers will spend approximately 30 –32 hours per week in their assigned classroom and 4–6 hours per week dedicated to leadership responsibilities, including teacher supervision, coaching, administrative tasks, onboarding support, classroom observations, and meetings with leadership. Scheduling of leadership hours will be determined by program needs and in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director.

Requirements

  • Currently employed as a Teacher at LEEEC in good standing.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom practice and a consistent, punctual, reliable presence.
  • Effective communicator who works well with peers and leadership.
  • Shows initiative, follow-through, and the ability to support others.
  • Interest in taking on a mentorship or leadership role within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Continue all responsibilities of the Teacher role within assigned classroom.
  • Model high-quality, consistent classroom practice for peers.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and support to an assigned group of Teachers.
  • Conduct regular 1:1 check-ins with teachers in your group to provide support, address concerns, and promote professional growth.
  • Assist with onboarding new staff , including orientation support and classroom integration.
  • Serve as a mentor and go-to resource for teachers in your group.
  • Support classroom quality and consistency across your teacher group by sharing best practices and providing real-time coaching as needed.
  • Utilize designated leadership time each week to conduct teacher check-ins, classroom observations, coaching conversations, onboarding support, and administrative tasks related to teacher supervision.
  • Assist leadership with team communications, ensuring information is shared clearly and follow-through is completed.
  • Flag concerns, team needs, or emerging issues to the Director or Coordinator in a ti mely manner .
  • Participate in Lead Teacher check-ins or leadership meetings as scheduled.
