About The Position

The role of the Special Education Lead Teacher is to work closely with all members of the teaching staff to increase instructional skills, support the therapeutic environment, and be a resource to colleagues.

Requirements

  • LBS 1 certification preferred, teaching certification required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with SSM and other IEP systems
  • At least four years of successful school experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Masters Degree in Special Education

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate IEP processes, including writing, progress monitoring, updating goals, and holding meetings when a teacher is out for extended periods and/or when a teaching vacancy exists, in conjunction with school administration.
  • Provide mentoring to new JCFS Knapp School teachers including Skyward applications (setting up gradebook, assignments, grading, IRs, etc.), KSY school functions (call off, meeting schedule, understanding school culture, etc.) and serve as a resource to new teachers.
  • Help determine professional development for department meetings with school administration.
  • Assist with testing scheduling, coordination, and administration in conjunction with the Coordinator of Educational Services.
  • Represent JCFS and its programs in a positive manner to both internal and external contacts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
