About The Position

The Evening Teacher supports the daily operations of the classroom by collaborating with the teaching teams, making smooth transitions to the evening classroom, implementing developmentally appropriate practices and programming. This role is responsible for both supervision of children and the planning and execution of short- and long-term classroom activities. Evening Teachers help ensure that each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs are met in alignment with the center’s philosophy, curriculum, policies, and state licensing regulations. They actively contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. This position is scheduled to work a consistent afternoon/evening shift (1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, except for program professional development days), supporting classroom coverage, transitions, and end-of-day routines, including family communication and closing procedures. In addition, Evening Teachers support classroom management and operations by completing required documentation, participating in training, assisting with staff support as appropriate, and collaborating with colleagues and families to solve problems and address concerns. The role also requires strict adherence to health, safety, and licensing standards, including supervision protocols and CACFP meal counting procedures. Evening Teachers are expected to engage in ongoing professional development and actively participate in classroom, center-wide, and university initiatives, as well as individual growth opportunities. The Child Care Program is licensed by the State of Ohio Department of Children and Youth and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This prestigious recognition has been achieved by less than 10% of early childhood programs nationwide. The NAEYC accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which early childhood programs demonstrate that they meet national standards of excellence.
