About The Position

The Birth-Three Lead Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. This role is part of the Thrive to Five program at CAP ELC in Lancaster, PA. The position is classified as Non-Exempt/Permanent and requires minimal travel. The center is open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with a preferred schedule of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and is a 40-hour per week, year-round position.

Requirements

  • Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) with 1250 hours of documented experience with children

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with PA Teaching Certificate with a minimum of 9 credits of coursework related to infants and toddlers.

Responsibilities

  • Promote cognitive development and learning dispositions in all children.
  • Use the provided Creative Curriculum to structure the learning environment and daily routine.
  • Follow the standards of practice outlined by Thrive to 5 leadership.
  • Prepare classrooms.
  • Provide environmental programming that aligns with Creative Curriculum learning centers.
  • Provide weekly written plans and lesson planning for instruction aligned with PA Early Learning Standards & Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Provide individualized plans to meet the diverse needs of children.
  • Use data collected on individual children to inform lesson plans, learning activities, and units of study.
  • Perform required developmental screenings and share results with families.
  • Use various tools with TSG GOLD to gather data on individual children and conduct assessments.
  • Promote healthy growth and habits in children and provide a safe environment.
  • Follow all safety and health procedures and expectations as outlined by regulatory standards (DHS, STARS, or Head Start Performance standards).
  • Provide adequate supervision of children at all times.
  • Provide daily planned gross motor activities.
  • Follow all meal service standards as outlined by CACFP.
  • Follow all guidance to prevent the spread of illness.
  • Use meals & snacks to teach about health, sanitation and proper nutrition.
  • Assist with ensuring all children receive required dental, vision, hearing, and BMI screenings.
  • Teach children proper safety skills.
  • Follow all procedures when assisting children with the toilet or changing a diaper.
  • Follow all procedures when supervising and assisting children with rest time.
  • Promote healthy social and emotional growth in children.
  • Implement PBIS universal practices established by Thrive to Five.
  • Teach and model social-emotional skills and practices.
  • Implement interventions with support from intra/inter agency teams.
  • Maintain current knowledge about challenging behavior and mental health concerns.
  • Implement behavior support plans as needed.
  • Follow the responsive scale of discipline.
  • Assist in providing a welcoming culturally inclusive environment for families.
  • Provide updates on classroom closures.
  • Maintain parent/staff rapport and mutual confidence and trust with the classroom team.
  • Facilitate parent engagement events.
  • Follow all Community Action Partnership (CAP) and Thrive to Five policies, procedures and systems.
  • Demonstrate the CAP Values.
  • Work with Early Learning Supervisor to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and quality standards.
  • Work with Early Learning Supervisor to reflect on coaching feedback and set professional development goals.
  • Work with all staff to develop strategies to resolve interpersonal problems that affect program operation.
  • Attend and participate in mandatory training, workshops, and meetings.
  • Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
  • Foster supportive, collegial relationships with fellow co-workers, community partners, interns and volunteers.
  • Timely review and response to internal and external communication.
  • Support their peers to understand program routines and expectations.
  • Actively participate in committee work as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
