We're looking for a Lead Tax Accountant with 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a Big 4 public accounting firm, to join our team. This role offers the opportunity to work across both income and non-income taxes, partner directly with tax leadership, interact with taxing authorities, and help drive innovation through AI and technology-enabled solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department.
  • Experience with federal and state income tax compliance.
  • Experience with non-income taxes, including sales and use tax, premium tax, excise tax, gross receipts tax, property tax, or similar indirect taxes.
  • Experience supporting tax audits, examinations, notices, and tax controversy matters.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Interest in AI, automation, and technology-enabled tax solutions in addition to Excel skills

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support federal, state, local, and international tax audits and examinations.
  • Prepare, organize, and respond to documentation requests from taxing authorities during audits and examinations.
  • Analyze tax returns, audit workpapers, and supporting documentation to identify issues, assess risks, and assist the tax management team in developing recommendations and audit response strategies.
  • Manage tax notices, information requests, and audit correspondence through resolution.
  • Review and prepare income and non-income tax compliance workpapers and filings prepared by internal teams and external advisors.
  • Support compliance activities related to federal and state income taxes, premium tax, sales and use tax, federal excise tax, gross receipts tax, property tax, and other indirect taxes.
  • Research technical tax issues and assist with tax controversy and regulatory matters.
  • Leverage AI, automation tools, and data analytics to improve compliance processes, audit support, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in special projects and strategic tax initiatives as needed.
