About The Position

Perform Data Center Technician duties per documented processes and procedures. This includes a working knowledge of customer hardware with ability to interact, troubleshoot issues and work independently.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience, preferably in a Data Center or tech support role.
  • Intermediate understanding of networking and internet protocols including, but not limited to, Ethernet Switches, IP Addressing (CIDR/Netmasks), and DNS.
  • Moderate to difficult computer skills, experience using Excel and Word is required.
  • Ability to use email, communicate effectively both verbally and written.
  • Ability to follow detailed processes/instructions is required.
  • Knowledge of Computer Hardware, Software and Related Services.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to be on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. over head.
  • Must be able to move rolling carts as needed.
  • Must be able to operate for extended hours in a loud, temperature controlled data center.
  • Must be able to use a pallet jack.
  • Must have ability to ascend and descend stairs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to perform job duties energetically and with enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot all aspects of server hardware and related storage products.
  • Repair, upgrade and downgrade servers.
  • Monitor and maintain all in-rack devices (e.g. servers, network devices, storage, PDU, UPS, etc.).
  • Coordinate hardware warranty replacement with vendors.
  • Escalate tickets as needed and collaborate with teammates to resolve issues.
  • Maintain data center component inventory.
  • Provide assistance to all operations personnel to ensure that the highest level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong experience in troubleshooting/fault isolation.
  • Ability to multitask with a high attention to detail.
  • Due to the 24x7 operations of the business, must be able to work a flexible work schedule, may include nights and weekends.

  • Escalate to the assigned client representative and Getronics Manager any documentation, process or procedure discrepancies and follow-up until resolved.

  • Must be able to communicate and understand verbal, written and electronic instructions in English.

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 50% of the time.
