About The Position

The Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and delivering infrastructure solutions that support both business and technical needs. This role provides technical leadership, and advanced systems support across Active Directory, Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop environments, endpoint technologies, networking, and Azure data center services, and serves as the final escalation point for complex issues from the Help Desk. This position is also responsible for recommending, defining, standardizing, documenting, testing, and implementing new software and hardware solutions based on business requirements. In addition, the Lead Systems Engineer documents, monitors, and reports on system issues, and leads IT staff and end users through issue reproduction, troubleshooting, and resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or experience.
  • Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting recent versions of Citrix XenApp.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Active Directory, including DNS, DHCP, and Print Services.
  • 5+ years of experience creating, managing, and deploying Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs), including custom GPO templates for virtual environments and roaming profiles.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast‑changing technical environment.
  • Experience with networking technologies such as Cisco, Meraki, Juniper, F5, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical and independent thinking skills, with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable components and resolve them methodically.
  • Advanced experience installing, testing, evaluating, and integrating applications and third‑party solutions into virtualized environments.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting and resolving network and system‑level issues.
  • Ability to lead technical teams on specific engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, fostering cooperation to successfully deliver engineering projects and tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organize work, define responsibilities, prioritize tasks, and ensure timely technical delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Recommend, define, and document standard system and cloud infrastructure components that support business‑critical applications and services.
  • Collaborate with vendors, IT management, and architects to evaluate new technologies, providing advanced technical guidance across on‑prem and Azure cloud infrastructure, including end‑user computing platforms.
  • Maintain an advanced understanding of enterprise infrastructure architecture, including Windows Server, networking, Citrix virtual application and desktop platforms, and Azure IaaS/PaaS services.
  • Document, monitor, report on, and manage the resolution of systemic infrastructure issues, including Citrix platform performance, availability, and scalability concerns.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex infrastructure, Citrix, and Azure‑related issues escalated from junior engineers and technical support teams.
  • Recommend, define, and document Meraki network configurations, with advanced understanding of Meraki cloud‑managed networking and its integration with Citrix and Azure workloads.
  • Perform advanced engineering and administration for Windows Server 2012/2016/2019/2022, Active Directory, Terminal Services, endpoint security platforms, and Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop environments.
  • Support, maintain, and optimize Citrix application and desktop delivery platforms, ensuring reliable access, performance, and user experience.
  • Support and administer Azure infrastructure services, including virtual machines, networking, identity integration, and connectivity.
  • Define configurations and support core Windows services including DNS, DHCP, and Print Services, with dependencies supporting Citrix and Azure workloads.
  • Define and administer Active Directory, including integration with Citrix and Azure services, and provide advanced administration for related platforms such as Exchange and SharePoint, as required.
  • Review, define, and oversee installations, configurations, patching, and updates to server software, Citrix components, and Azure‑hosted systems.
  • Actively participate in identifying new user needs and platform enhancements, including improvements to Citrix delivery models and Azure infrastructure capabilities.
  • Write, review, and maintain technical documentation for infrastructure, Citrix, and Azure environments.
  • Maintain accountability for changes to Windows, Citrix, and Azure platforms to improve performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Manage and coordinate third‑party vendors and service providers, including Citrix and cloud partners, to deliver projects or resolve complex issues.
  • Manage and mitigate company risk related to infrastructure, Citrix, and Azure responsibilities, ensuring system stability, security, and compliance.
